Cloud that is planned, not just moved

Cloud migration goes wrong in a predictable way. Servers get lifted into a hosting provider unchanged, nothing is redesigned, and the monthly bill arrives higher than the hardware it replaced — with the same problems, now rented.

Doing it properly means deciding, workload by workload, what should move, what should be rebuilt, what should stay where it is, and what should simply be switched off. Some of the most useful advice we give clients is that a particular system does not belong in the cloud at all.

Where it starts

With an inventory: applications, data volumes, dependencies, licensing, compliance constraints, and how much downtime each workload can actually tolerate. That last item drives everything about the migration plan, and it is the one most often assumed rather than asked.

Nobody regrets an extra week of planning. Everybody regrets a Monday morning where accounting cannot open the files.

From the inventory we sequence the work: low-risk workloads first, so the process is proven on something recoverable before anything critical moves. Every migration gets a tested rollback path, and we schedule cutovers around your business calendar rather than ours.

Microsoft 365

For most Phoenix businesses we work with, Microsoft 365 is the center of gravity — email, files, identity, collaboration, and increasingly device management. It is also where we find the most accumulated mess, because tenants grow by accident. Licenses assigned to people who left. Sharing links that never expire. Two overlapping file storage habits running in parallel.

  • Migration from on-premises Exchange, Google Workspace, or an older tenant, with mail and file history preserved intact.
  • Tenant configuration covering security baselines, retention, external sharing rules, and device compliance policy.
  • Identity as the control point — conditional access, multi-factor authentication, and offboarding that actually revokes access on the day someone leaves.
  • License rightsizing, reviewed on a schedule. Unused and over-specified licenses are the most common recoverable cost we find.

Google Workspace

Not every business runs on Microsoft. We implement Google Workspace for Business as well: setup, security, user and device management, and ongoing administration, with the same documentation and care as a Microsoft 365 tenant.

Azure, AWS and Google Cloud

For infrastructure beyond productivity workloads we design and manage environments on Azure, AWS and Google Cloud. We are not tied to any one platform. The choice follows your workloads, your existing licensing, and your team’s familiarity, not our certifications.

What we insist on regardless of platform: infrastructure documented rather than clicked together from memory, backups tested rather than assumed, network and identity boundaries that make sense, and monitoring that tells you about a problem before your customers do.

Cost control after go-live

Cloud spending grows quietly. A test environment left running for eight months, storage tiers never adjusted, instances provisioned for a load that never came, snapshots accumulating indefinitely. None of it is dramatic on its own, and all of it recurs monthly.

We review cloud spend as a routine part of management and bring you specific, itemized reduction options rather than a vague suggestion to optimize. When the honest answer is that your bill is reasonable for what you run, we say that too.

Hybrid is a normal destination

Not everything needs to move, and hybrid is often the right end state rather than a transitional stage. Manufacturing equipment, licensing tied to local hardware, latency-sensitive systems, and large local data sets can be genuinely better where they are. We integrate them properly with your cloud identity and backup rather than treating them as unfinished business.

Migration without the Monday morning surprise

STEP 01

Inventory

Applications, data, dependencies, licensing, and the real downtime tolerance of each workload — documented before any decision gets made.

STEP 02

Design

Workload by workload: move, rebuild, leave, or retire. Platform choice follows your requirements rather than our preferences.

STEP 03

Migrate

Sequenced from low risk upward, each cutover with a tested rollback path and a schedule that fits your business calendar.

STEP 04

Operate

Monitoring, backup verification, license review, and monthly cost review, so the environment stays healthy and the bill stays explainable.

Common cloud questions

Some cutovers require a window, and we tell you which ones and how long before we begin. Most are scheduled outside business hours, and every one has a rollback path tested in advance. We would rather quote a realistic window than promise zero interruption and be wrong on the night.

Sometimes, and not always. It replaces large periodic capital spending with predictable operating cost, removes hardware refresh cycles, and scales with you. But a badly designed cloud environment can absolutely cost more than the hardware it replaced. We model your case before recommending the move.

It depends on your workloads and existing licensing. Organizations already standardized on Microsoft 365 and Windows Server often find Azure integrates more cleanly and licenses more favorably. For other workloads AWS is the better fit. We are not incentivized either way.

Yes, and often you should. Hybrid is a legitimate permanent architecture, not a compromise. We integrate on-premises systems with your cloud identity, backup, and monitoring so both halves are managed as one environment.

It is your data and your tenant. We document the environment, hand over administrative access, and support the transition. Our access is removed on your schedule.

Yes, and it matters more than people expect. Microsoft 365 replicates your data for availability, which is not the same as protecting you from a deletion, a ransomware event, or a departing employee clearing a mailbox. Independent backup with tested restores is a separate control.

Thinking about a move to the cloud?

Start with a readiness assessment. You get a workload-by-workload recommendation and a realistic cost picture before committing to anything.
